A personal best is a reminder to get the right support
A 185kg deadlift reminded me why expertise and accountability matter. In training and in business, experienced support helps you focus the work required to grow.
What can a personal best teach business owners about support?
Gavin’s 185kg deadlift is a personal example of working towards a goal with experienced support. The business lesson is to define what needs to improve, seek relevant expertise and connect the guidance with consistent action.

Progress takes work
I had been chasing a 185kg deadlift for some time after being stuck at 180kg. Reaching it early in the morning felt like a real achievement.
The training matters, but so does having people around you who know what they are doing. The team at Focused Fitness Training Centre in Wrexham has been part of that support.
An outside view can help
When you have worked on the same challenge for a while, it can be difficult to see what needs to change. Someone with relevant experience can help you assess the situation and focus your effort.
That applies in business too. An owner can be capable, committed and busy while still benefiting from a clearer commercial perspective.
Experience should change the action
Commercial expertise earns its value through the decisions and action it improves. That may mean sharpening your proposition, reaching better prospects or making the follow-up consistent enough to win the work.
Over 25 years in sales and marketing, I have won, lost and learned. I bring those lessons into your growth plan: assess the challenge, choose the right priorities and do the work that matters.
Build support into the plan
Gain Momentum connects practical growth activity with the commercial thinking behind it. Working directly with me brings another level of guidance and accountability.
The lesson I took from that personal best is simple: decide what you want to improve, do the work and give yourself access to people who can help you progress.
Questions about personal perspective
Why can an outside perspective help a business owner?
Someone with relevant experience can help assess a challenge, question assumptions and focus effort on a useful next step.
What makes business support practical?
Practical support connects advice with actions, owners and review, so the business can see what changed and what needs attention next.
